MSDS is a chemical safety technical manual that provides a comprehensive explanation document on 16 aspects of chemical composition information, physical and chemical parameters, ignition and explosion performance, toxicity, environmental hazards, as well as safe use methods, storage conditions, leakage emergency response, transportation regulations and requirements.

1、 The necessity of writing MSDS/SDS for non hazardous and hazardous materials

At present, non hazardous chemicals in China do not require the development of MSDS/SDS, but many materials have been discovered to have potential effects after years of use, and these effects are likely to be irreversible toxicity. In addition, foreign countries require almost all chemicals to require MSDS/SDS, so it is recommended that enterprises also use MSDS/SDS for non hazardous chemicals to avoid unnecessary impacts in the future.

The MSDS/SDS prepared must comply with the laws and regulations related to hazardous chemicals in the country and region where the purchaser is located. However, different countries and even different states within the same country (such as the United States) have their own different requirements for MSDS/SDS.

2、 Writing MSDS/SDS requires determining the product categories (4 major categories)

1. Chemicals (substances/pure substances) - products with only one component;

2. Chemicals (mixtures) - products consisting of two or more components;

3. Battery products - commonly used in daily life or products with batteries;

4. Commodity category - products used for circulation in the market and available for consumers to purchase.

3、 Provide basic information about the product

Provide relevant information about the product, indicating the name of the chemical. If it is a substance, the chemical name or common name, US Chemical Abstract Registration Number (CAS number), and other identifiers should be provided. If a substance is classified as a hazardous chemical according to the GHS classification standard, the chemical names or common names of all hazardous components, including impurities and stabilizers that affect the hazard classification of the substance, as well as the concentration or concentration range, should be listed.

1. If the product is not a pure substance, its physical and chemical data, toxicological data, and ecological data must be obtained through experiments;

2. If the classification results of the product need to be conducted through relevant additional tests, the tests must be conducted first to obtain relevant data before continuing to complete the report;

3. When writing MSDS/SDS, it is necessary to provide all components (percentage content) in the product and ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the information;

4. There are no clear requirements for commodity products in MSDS/SDS regulations, but more and more customers are requesting MSDS/SDS for commodity products. When providing product information, the product composition and the composition of each component are required for commodity products.

4、 Provide basic information about the enterprise

1. The name, address, phone number, emergency phone number, fax and email address of the supplier should be indicated;

2. Distributors can provide information on the commissioning unit, production unit, or supplier;

3. If MSDS/SDS is used for the registration of hazardous chemicals, emergency telephone numbers must be provided strictly in accordance with the requirements of the management measures; According to the Management Measures for the Registration of Hazardous Chemicals (Safety)
